Sultry Liner
Waterlining — using a pencil to color the inner rims of your eyes—is easier to do than it sounds. Try this genius tip from Dior makeup artist Ricky Wilson: Line the bottom waterline with a long-wearing pencil, then blink a few times. “The excess liner transfers to your top inner rim; that’s the cheat,” he says. If it smudges along your bottom lashes throughout the day, let it be.
The Only Two Nail Colors You Need
Taupe and red are classics for a reason: They work with whatever color you’re wearing, and they’re suitable for both fingers and toes. Tip: For maximum opacity—and a streak-free finish—allow polish to dry between coats for at least two minutes.
Peach Shadow
Peach is the new nude. “But it has more punch,” says makeup artist Nick Barose. Lee agrees: “It brings attention to the iris and makes blue eyes really pop.” Apply on lids, just into the crease, and finish with a coat of black or brown mascara.
The New Red Lip
Not cherry, not brick, not wine—fall’s best red is a blend of all three. “It’s very flattering on almost every skin tone,” says Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee. Opt for a rich cream or liquid lipstick; the more pigmented the better. Skip liner so lips look soft, not severe.
