All-Natural Peppermint Lip Scrub

The recent cold weather is really starting to take its toll on my hands, feet, arms, legs, face, and definitely my lips! My lips have been extra dry and flaky over the past couple of days, despite the fact that I’ve been vigilantly applying lip gloss, lipstick, or lip balm every day. So I finally got fed up with the state of my lips, and decided to mix up a natural remedy. And so my all-natural peppermint lip scrub was born!

This super simple sugar lip scrub can be made in minutes, using just a few simple ingredients from your pantry. Start with organic virgin coconut oil, which is a highly effective natural moisturizer (and it’s loaded with antioxidants too!) Add some ordinary white sugar as an exfoliant, then top it all off with a tiny bit of honey, and some peppermint essential oil to make it taste good!

I didn’t want to make a huge batch of lip scrub, because frankly I don’t need it that often. (Plus it doesn’t store well over a long period of time, because the sugar will eventually dissolve and lose its exfoliating power.) So this recipe makes just enough to fill a small lip balm container. Here’s how to make it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • 3-4 drops peppermint essential oil

Directions:

Mix the sugar, coconut oil, honey, and peppermint essential oil together in a small bowl using a spoon or fork. Transfer the mixture to a small container.

Using Your Lip Scrub

Scoop out approximately 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of the scrub, and gently rub it into your lips in a circular motion. Continue for about 30 seconds, then gently wipe your lips clean. Or, since all the ingredients are edible, you could just lick your lips clean! Not only will your lips be nice and smooth, but your breath will be minty fresh too! 🙂
